Computing
At Wimboldsley Community Primary School, we aim to prepare our learners for their future by giving them the opportunities to gain knowledge and develop skills that will equip them for an ever changing digital world. Knowledge and understanding of Computing is of increasing importance for children’s future both at home and for employment. Our Computing curriculum focuses on a progression of skills in digital literacy, computer science, information technology and online safety to ensure that children become competent in safely using, as well as understanding, technology. These strands are revisited repeatedly through a range of themes during children’s time in school to ensure the learning is embedded and skills are successfully developed. Our intention is that Computing also supports children’s creativity and cross curricular learning to engage children and enrich their experiences in school.

CLAIRE WYNNE
I have been teaching at Wimboldsley Community Primary School for a number of years. I have enjoyed leading Computing over this time. I understand the important place of technology in the world and strive to create a curriculum that will provide children the skills and knowledge they need in an ever developing world. With the support of MGL, our staff have the opportunity to participate in regular CPD opportunities as well as using their own Scheme of Learning to ensure all areas are covered in depth, whilst developing an ongoing progression of skills. As a school, we recognise the growing importance of E-Safety and the use of AI, and this threads its way across our curriculum. The children regularly receive e-safety learning both in and out of school to support them in their use of technology.
