Art
It is our intent at Wimboldsley Community Primary School to provide pupils with a high-quality art curriculum, which develops creativity, sets challenges, engages and inspires children and equips them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. We try to expose children to a wide range of artists, time periods and cultures and allow them to discover their own creativity using the power of art. Art is taught across school through practical experiences.
We see art as a vehicle for creativity and individual expression. It is important to the development of pupils’ well-being, appreciation of the world and understanding and empathy of others. We aim to give all children the confidence to express themselves through a range of chosen mediums. Children are given opportunities to explore a wide range of media and different techniques, sculpture, collage, painting, drawing, textiles and printing over the course of EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2. Opportunities to practise art and design techniques when using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space are embedded across the Art curriculum through the use of individual sketchbooks.
Miss Smith
I have been a class teacher at Wimboldsley for almost 1 year and it has been my pleasure to support the development of our Art and Design curriculum. As a lover for art and creativity, I enjoy instilling this love of art into the children at Wimboldlsey. We are also lucky to have Mrs Chesters working alongside us who holds a degree in Graphic Design. Mrs Chesters offers her expert knowledge and artist eye across the school. At Wimboldsley, we love opportunities to share our Artwork with each other and the wider community. We ensure that the children are able to participate in community art projects and visit art galleries. We also provide the experience of working with professional artists to inspire the children and continue to develop their Art skills.
