PE
At Wimboldsley, we believe that PE is an essential part of our curriculum. Physical education makes a unique and vital contribution to pupils' physical, mental and social wellbeing. Our children thrive through the many physical activities they experience and are exposed to a wide range of opportunities, ensuring that each and every one of them finds a form of exercise they can access. This helps to instil a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity. Through our PE curriculum, we promote positive attitudes towards a healthy and happy lifestyle.
From Spring 2026, we will be implementing the Get Set 4 PE scheme of work to further enhance our curriculum, ensuring high-quality, progressive and engaging lessons for all pupils.

ANNA GOWING
I have been the PE curriculum subject lead for many years and have enjoyed inspiring and encouraging our pupils to develop a genuine love for sport and physical activity.
I enjoy all aspects of keeping fit and regularly walk, taking in the beautiful Cheshire countryside.
We have strong links with the Middlewich Primary Schools Hub, where opportunities arise for children to interact with other primary schools in a competitive environment. In addition, our pupils are provided with opportunities to visit the high school to take part in festivals and activities linked to the curriculum.
Alongside our experienced teachers, our PE curriculum is delivered by Vara Sports, a professional and cooperative company that offers a programme tailored to the needs of our children. In addition to this, they provide enriching after-school club activities, including multi-sports.
Thanks to Sports Funding, our children benefit from a range of enrichment opportunities throughout the year, including cricket coaching and play leader training for members of Key Stage 2.
Through our Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), I work closely with other PE coordinators, bringing a wealth of knowledge, support and enthusiasm to the subject.
As subject lead, I engage in all aspects of PE, embracing opportunities to develop my own professional practice through regular observation and interaction with the skilled coaches from Vara Sports.
Our PE curriculum is clearly mapped across each year group to ensure progression of skills, whilst building on knowledge from previous learning. Clear and concise end points are carefully planned so that children become capable and enthusiastic participants in all areas of sport.
