Maths
At Wimboldsley we teach maths through a whole class mastery programme designed to spark curiosity and excitement and nurture confidence in maths. Each lesson is divided into evidence-based sections that involve plenty of discovery, sharing, collaboration, practice and reflection.
We are committed to ensuring that children are able to recognise the importance of Maths in the wider world and that they are also able to use their mathematical skills and knowledge confidently in their lives in a range of different contexts.
Power Maths
Our Maths curriculum is clearly mapped across each year group using ‘Power Maths’ resources to ensure the mastery of skills, whilst delivering knowledge that is built upon from previous learning. We aim to build happy, confident mathematicians who have an enthusiasm for learning Maths. We aim for children to develop automaticity of number facts by revisiting and practising recalling facts, using programs such as TT Rockstars and Numbots to support this.
Calculation Policy KS1
Times Table Rockstars
We use Times Table Rockstars to support the children from Year 2-6 with learning and consolidation their times table knowlegde. The children can access TTRockstars using their unique login which can be found in their reading diaries. If you do not have a login for your child, please speak to your class teacher.
Numbots
Produced by the creators of Times Tables Rock Stars, Numbots is a fun and engaging way for our younger child to boost their skills in a range of areas as well their confidence. This is to support chidren in Key Stage 1. NumBots is an online game and playing little and often will significantly improve your child’s subitising skills and counting as well as recall and understanding of number bonds and addition and subtraction facts. These are all critical foundations in Maths so we are excited by the impact NumBots can have on the children as they master each stage and move through to Y2. The children have been provided with a username label. Please see your child's class teacher if you do not have a login.
